Larsen Engineers Obtains GIGP Funds for Client Communities

Larsen Engineers of Rochester, NY recently learned that all four of the grant applications submitted on behalf of municipal clients to the Environmental Facilities Corp. (EFC) under their Green Infrastructure Grant program (knows as GIGP) were funded. The source of the grants is Federal Stimulus funds allocated to New York State for Sustainable Development and Energy Conservation.

The applications that Larsen prepared accounted for half the grants under this program awarded in Western NY.

The communities that submitted the applications and received funding are: Elba Village Lyons Village Medina Village Town of Williamson

Green Innovation Grant Program (GIGP) Awards secured For Larsen Clients:

Village of Medina, Orleans County
GIGP Award Amount: $1,708,111.00

Project Summary: Green Infrastructure projects include a rainwater harvesting system and installation of a green roof. Energy efficient improvements include: installation of energy efficient lighting, solar units which will help the compost facility to reach its goal of being a net zero energy facility, and biogas powered combined heat and power (CHP) unit which will reduce heating and cooling requirements.

Town of Williamson, Wayne County
GIGP Award Amount: $718,901.00

Project Summary: Green Infrastructure projects include a rainwater harvesting system and installation of a green roof. Energy efficient improvements, include installation of energy efficient lighting, solar units which will provide almost 20% of the facility's current electric needs; and effluent-powered heat pumps which will utilize excess heat from the plant's effluent.

Village of Lyons, Wayne County
GIGP Award Amount: $546,575.00

Project Summary: Green Infrastructure projects include a rainwater harvesting system and installation of a green roof. Energy efficient improvements include: installation of energy efficient lighting, solar units, a new 93.3% efficient boiler, and State of the Art inspection equipment will be used to identify leaks and will result in water conservation.

Village of Elba, Genesee County
GIGP Award Amount: $275,119.00

Project Summary: Green Infrastructure projects include a rainwater harvesting system. Energy efficient improvements include: installation of energy efficient lighting which will reduce energy use for lighting by 40 -60%; solar units which will provide almost 20% of the facility's current electric needs and effluent-powered heat pumps.
