We were able to study many industrial and municipal plants to identify energy conservation opportunities. Total energy saved was over 2 Megawatts. The payment for the rebate from the power company was received after proving the savings via actual measurements. Larsen undertook the entire risk of delivering the energy savings.
Examples of such projects include Hoosac Wastewater Plant, where the master pump station was converted to variable frequency drive to match the flow conditions as compared to constant speed drive motors. In addition, an automatic D.O. control system was installed to manage the air blowers and reduce the power cost, with a net power consumption savings of $47,000.00 per year.
A project at the Beverly, Massachusetts water pumping station involved the retrofitting of impellers to match the hydraulic conditions which operate at a much better efficiency point using less energy. Similarly, several large paper mills had pump stations installed.
